Our Advisors

Glen Nicholson

At AIB we consider that our strength lies in the fact that we have had real experience in actually forming, operating and enhancing businesses. Glen, an electrical engineer, has successfully steered more than one business through these phases. Furthermore, Glen has prepared the businesses for ultimate sale, and then sold them!

Some of the opportunities and issues which face small business owners, and which he has personally navigated through for his businesses are:

  • identify a target market and develop sales strategies
  • design new products (one was the subject of an Australian Design Award)
  • implement product development plans
  • recognize opportunities in the area of manufacturing and assembly; build a manufacturing operation; and integrate this into the existing business
  • manage staff and organizational issues
  • export and import – not only as opportunities, but as a response to threats
  • maximize government support through grants
  • strategic planning, business planning and exit planning

Glen’s many years guiding and enhancing companies has developed in him a unique ability to identify and focus on key issues within an organization, and provide practical solutions which are manageable within the context of the business. Glen is motivated towards success, and will motivate you and your business towards the achievement of your goals.

Debbie Nicholson

As we all know, financial and accounting management is a critical area in every business, but one which is often overlooked or undervalued.

Debbie, a chartered accountant, provides the AIB team with a unique combination of exemplary qualifications in accounting and financial management, with over twenty years of experience as a business owner. She is in a unique position to assist companies in identifying critical areas of finance, accounting and internal control and making practical and beneficial recommendations for improvement.

Some of the particular outcomes which Debbie has achieved include:

  • accounting, reporting and internal control systems; review, improvement and implementation
  • strategic planning, including guiding businesses towards/through succession planning
  • budgeting and analysis of results for forward planning
  • entity structure and corporate organisation
  • finance issues, including applications to financial institutions
  • Government Grants
  • Senior financial management in charitable organisations

Debbie’s ability to develop positive and motivating working relationships with senior management and staff alike, maximizes the likelihood of successful and smooth transitions through change. It is often the perception, rather than the reality, associated with change and its ramifications, which has a negative impact on its success. Engaging the entire company towards a common goal is fundamental to achieving an organisation’s strategic objectives.
